Claire Boucher, the musician known as Grimes, took to X (formerly Twitter) to address speculation after a user pointed out she was no longer following her ex-partner, Elon Musk.

Grimes revealed that the digital snub was the work of the X owner himself, who had allegedly blocked her. She stated that her focus remains strictly on their children and dismissed the incident as “silly.”
“For context I’m just living my life. He followed me then blocked me. I’m not gna be following and unfollowing. My only priority is co parenting, I am not interested in public dramatics. This is so silly lol,” Grimes wrote.
The on-again, off-again relationship between the two, which began in 2018, concluded in 2022. They share three children with famously unique names: X Æ A-Xii (known as Lil X), Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus.
Ongoing Parental Rights Dispute
The claim of being blocked adds a layer of digital drama to an already contentious co-parenting relationship, which has largely been managed through private and public disputes over the last year.
The tension has centered on privacy and custody issues:
- Public Exposure: Earlier this year, Grimes publicly voiced frustration after Musk brought their eldest son, X Æ A-Xii, to high-profile public events, including an appearance with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
- Legal Action: In October 2023, Grimes filed a “petition to establish parental relationship” in a California court, a legal step often taken to determine custody rights or financial support when parents are unmarried.
- Custody Battle Strain: In November 2024, Grimes revealed the custody battle had been emotionally and financially draining, claiming she had been unable to see one of her children for five months at one point and describing the fight as being “locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights.”
Musk, who owns the platform where the incident occurred, has not publicly commented on the claim.
