The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced on Tuesday the revocation of GRAP-4 restrictions in Delhi-NCR, following a marginal improvement in the city’s air quality.
Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 378 on Tuesday, categorized as ‘very poor,’ showing improvement from 410 on Monday and 440 on Sunday. GRAP-4 curbs had been imposed on January 17 when the AQI entered the “severe” category.
The CAQM attributed the improvement to favourable meteorological conditions and increased wind speeds. Forecasts from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) indicate that the AQI is expected to remain in the ‘very poor’ range over the coming days.
“In view of the above, the Sub-Committee has decided to revoke with immediate effect its order dated 17.01.2026 invoking actions under Stage IV (‘Severe+’ Category, AQI > 450) of the extant GRAP,” the CAQM said.
However, officials clarified that measures under GRAP Stage I, II, and III will continue to remain in force. The Sub-Committee will continue to monitor air quality and make further decisions based on AQI levels and meteorological forecasts.
