New Delhi [India]: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government on Monday, calling its governance over the last ten years a complete failure.
Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Naidu remarked, “People are worried about staying in Delhi because of weather pollution and political pollution. Both are dangerous for health. In the last 10 years, the governance has failed in Delhi. It is a failed model. Without creating wealth, what right do politicians have to distribute wealth?”
The Andhra Pradesh CM extended his criticism to Punjab, where AAP also governs, labeling it a “failed model” as well.
Sharp Criticism of AAP’s Governance
Naidu slammed AAP over multiple governance issues in Delhi, including poor water quality and waste management.
“In Delhi, you will go to a gali, and there is no difference between drainage water and drinking water,” he stated, highlighting the deteriorating civic conditions in the capital. He further pointed out the growing garbage problem on Delhi’s roads.
Taking a dig at AAP’s governance in Punjab and Delhi, he questioned, “Can you imagine that AAP has two states—Delhi and Punjab? Is it (AAP government) not a total failure model?”
Allegations Over Liquor Scam
Naidu also accused AAP of corruption, stating that the liquor scam was “the biggest scam” and that AAP’s senior leaders, including former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, had been arrested in connection with it.
“Compared to any scam, liquor is the biggest scam. This model is a failure. Not good for the nation,” he asserted.
Pollution in Yamuna and Call for “Double-Engine” Government
Naidu further criticized AAP for failing to address pollution in Delhi, particularly the pollution of the Yamuna River.
“Yamuna is the most polluted river. In 10 years, you could not control pollution. Only a double-engine government can do all this,” the TDP chief said, referring to a governance model where the same party is in power at both the state and central levels.
Delhi Elections on February 5
Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Delhi is set to go to the polls on February 5 for its 70 Assembly seats, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8. The elections are expected to be a triangular contest between the BJP, Congress, and AAP.
