The National Institutes of Health says that Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the most frequent type of cancer in people. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is the most common cause. It is usually a slow-growing tumor that doesn’t kill people very often, but if it isn’t treated, it can do a lot of damage to nearby tissues. BCC most often appears on parts of the body that get a lot of sun, like the face, head, and neck.
