July 11, 2025: Hollywood heartthrob Glen Powell is sprinting into action as Ben Richards in Edgar Wright’s upcoming dystopian black comedy-thriller The Running Man — and while fans are excited, one person is not: his mom.
🎬 About the Film:
A reimagining of the 1987 cult classic that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, the new Running Man follows Richards, a working-class man forced to enter a brutal game show where “Runners” are hunted by assassins for cash and survival — all broadcast to a bloodthirsty public.
🏃♂️ “I’m gonna get my ass kicked for two hours.”
In an interview with People, Powell shared that:
“There’s a lot of running in The Running Man — I’m getting to do some really cool stuff, but that really worries my mom.”
He called it a “great underdog story” with zero survival rate — and loads of non-stop action.
✅ Schwarzenegger Gave His Blessing
Powell, who worked with Arnold on The Expendables, got the green light from the original star himself:
“Arnold gave us his full blessing,” said Powell. “We’re even giving him a very specific fun gift from the movie soon.”
The new trailer even teases a cameo from Schwarzenegger, hinting at a clever connection between past and present.
