Patna (Bihar) [India], May 11: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday praised the Indian Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, stating that the whole nation is proud of their bravery. “The entire country is proud of the Indian Army’s valour. Prime Minister Modi and our armed forces have made us proud,” Singh told reporters in Patna.
His comments came amid widespread national recognition of the military action that targeted terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam attack.
Meanwhile, in a contrasting response to recent diplomatic developments, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal criticized US President Donald Trump for offering to mediate on the Kashmir issue after India and Pakistan agreed to a cessation of hostilities. Sibal expressed concern over the lack of transparency regarding the events leading up to the ceasefire and called on the Indian government to convene a special parliamentary session and an all-party meeting.
“Many questions will be raised on this tweet,” Sibal said, referring to Trump’s social media post. “What happened, how, and why—no clear information has been provided to the opposition. We aren’t issuing a criticism today, but we demand that the Prime Minister himself be present at an all-party meeting to clarify the situation.”
Sibal added that had Dr. Manmohan Singh been the Prime Minister, such a meeting and special session would have already been held.
Earlier, President Trump took to Truth Social to express satisfaction over the easing of tensions between India and Pakistan. Referring to the ceasefire, he claimed that millions of lives could have been at risk had the aggression continued. “I am very proud of the strong and unwavering leadership of India and Pakistan… Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions,” Trump posted.
He went on to assert that the United States played a role in brokering peace and reiterated his willingness to mediate the Kashmir issue. Trump also pledged to boost trade with both India and Pakistan, saying, “After a ‘thousand years,’ a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir.”
The comments have sparked mixed reactions in India’s political circles, with government ministers hailing the military’s response, and opposition leaders demanding greater accountability and clarity from the Centre.
