Italian PM praises Trump, Modi, and Milei for shaping a new conservative movement, emphasizes security and freedom in Europe
Washington DC [US], February 23: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni strongly criticized the “double standards” of the global left-wing establishment, highlighting the rise of a new conservative movement led by leaders like US President Donald Trump, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Argentinian President Javier Milei.
Addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) via video link on Saturday, Meloni said, “With Trump’s victory, their irritation has turned into hysteria. Not only because conservatives are winning, but because conservatives are now collaborating globally.”
Conservatives Are the New Global Force
Meloni pointed out how, in the past, leaders like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were praised for their liberal global networks, while today, right-wing leaders engaging in similar collaborations are labeled as a “threat to democracy.”
“When Clinton and Blair created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei, or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy,” she said.
Calling it a clear “double standard,” the Italian leader asserted, “The good news is that people no longer believe their lies.”
“We Stand for Freedom, Family, and Security”
Meloni passionately outlined the core values that unite global conservative leaders.
“We defend freedom. We love our nations. We want secure borders. We preserve businesses and citizens… We defend family and life. We fight against wokeism. We protect our sacred right to faith and free speech. And we stand for common sense.”
Security is the Key to Freedom
On global security, Meloni stressed that Europe must prioritize safety to protect freedom.
“Happiness depends on freedom, and freedom depends on courage. We proved this when we stopped invasions, won our independence, and overthrew dictators. We must do it again today in Ukraine.”
She emphasized the need for strong leadership, calling for joint efforts to bring lasting peace while ensuring military and economic security.
Praising Trump’s Leadership
Meloni expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to handle global crises, particularly referencing the US withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration.
“I know that with Donald Trump leading the United States, we will never again see the disaster we saw in Afghanistan four years ago,” she said.
Highlighting key conservative priorities, she added, “If you are not secure, you are not free. And when freedom is at risk, you must put it in the hands of wise leadership.”
A Call to Strengthen Civilization
Concluding her speech, Meloni urged conservatives worldwide to stand firm in their beliefs and ensure a stronger world for future generations.
“I made my choice long ago, and I fight every day to honor it. And I know that I am not alone in this battle. We are all standing together. And believe me, this makes all the difference.”
