Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League Set To Kick Off In Gurugram On April 18

Gurugram: The highly anticipated Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League (GI-PKL) is set to begin on April 18 in Gurugram, with international players expressing immense enthusiasm for the tournament.

For the first time, the league will see participation from teams representing Egypt, Kenya, Argentina, Germany, England, Norway, Poland, Hungary, and Hong Kong, truly making it a global Kabaddi spectacle.

The inaugural GI-PKL season will feature 12 teams—six men’s teams and six women’s teams—and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network, ensuring worldwide viewership.

Excitement Among International Players

Several international Kabaddi players have shared their excitement about competing in India, the birthplace of the sport.

🔹 Poland’s Women’s Kabaddi Team Captain: “I’m the captain of the Poland national Kabaddi team, and I am waiting to be a part of GI-PKL.”

🔹 Hungary’s Women’s Team Skipper: “I’m so excited about GI-PKL.”

🔹 Hong Kong China Women’s Team Captain: “I’m immensely excited to be a part of GI-PKL and showcase my skills to all the Kabaddi fans in India.”

🔹 England’s Kabaddi Player, Alex: “I’m thrilled to be a part of GI-PKL. I’m passionate about Kabaddi and ready for the challenge.”

Organizers Speak on the Global Expansion of Kabaddi

Karthik Dammu, founder of the GI-PKL Women’s League, which merged with the Men’s IPKL League, emphasized the league’s importance.

📢 “Having athletes from different countries compete at this level will not only raise the intensity of the game but also introduce new styles and strategies. This is just the beginning of a truly international Kabaddi experience.”

Sohan Tusir, founder of the Just Kabaddi League, shared his confidence in the league’s impact.

GI-PKL Championship Trophy Unveiled in Delhi

Last week, GI-PKL marked a significant milestone with the unveiling of its Championship Trophy at a special ceremony in Delhi. The trophy was unveiled by Shri D. Suresh, IAS, along with former Indian Kabaddi team captain Deepak Hooda and HIPSA President Kanthi D. Suresh.

The Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA) is the administrative body and rights holder of GI-PKL.
