Ghaziabad Restaurant Vandalised Over Food Delay, Three Arrested After CCTV Footage Goes Viral

Ghaziabad: A violent altercation over a food delay escalated into a full-blown attack on a restaurant in Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad, late Saturday night. A 50-second CCTV video that surfaced online shows a group of men vandalising the restaurant with wooden sticks as shocked diners watched on.

Three men — Minto Tyagi, Rajdeep Kumar, and Ravi Sharma, all in their 30s and residents of Modinagar and Sihani — have been arrested, and a search is on for seven others involved in the incident, police said.

How the Incident Unfolded:

According to officials, the suspects had visited the restaurant on Friday night when a delay in food service led to a dispute between them and the restaurant owner, Akshit Tyagi.

“Due to delay in food service, a dispute broke out between the suspects and the restaurant owner, Akshit Tyagi,” said a police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Though the issue was initially resolved by a mutual acquaintance, the accused allegedly returned on Saturday around 11:30 PM, this time with seven to eight accomplices on motorcycles and in a car.

“They attacked the hotel while customers were having dinner and later threatened Tyagi before fleeing the spot,” said ACP Poonam Mishra of Nandgram.

Details from the FIR:

Tyagi’s complaint, registered at the Nandgram police station, states that the accused:

  • Smashed two laptops, one LED TV, a billing machine, and the front counter
  • Stole ₹1,760 in cash from the counter
  • Assaulted some customers during the rampage

Legal Action Taken:

A case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for:

  • Assault or use of criminal force
  • Abetment of offence punishable with death or imprisonment
  • Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons
  • Criminal intimidation
  • Robbery

“All three prime suspects were arrested on Sunday, and efforts are underway to identify the remaining accused,” ACP Mishra confirmed.

The police continue to investigate the incident and are working to identify the rest of the group using surveillance footage and local inputs.
