GeM Sets ₹7 Lakh Crore Procurement Target For FY25, Integrates AI In 10 Indian Languages

New Delhi [India]: The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) on Monday announced an ambitious procurement target of ₹7 lakh crore for the 2025 fiscal year, alongside the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in 10 Indian languages to enhance platform accessibility and user experience.

Speaking at a press conference on the occasion of GeM’s 8th Incorporation Day, CEO Mihir Kumar highlighted the platform’s transformative role in public procurement and innovation-led inclusivity.

“At GeM, we are innovating to simplify and empowering to transform—because when innovation meets inclusion, it unlocks opportunities for every Indian entrepreneur,” said Kumar.

GeM has significantly intensified its efforts to ensure transparency and accountability, identifying 8 lakh erroneous product catalogs and suspending 5,200 sellers for listing violations in FY25. Additionally, 8,800 cases of buyer-seller collusion were reported between 2023 and 2025, resulting in the cancellation of 500 bids deemed suspicious.

The platform continues to drive inclusive economic growth by onboarding over:

  • 10 lakh Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs)
  • 1.3 lakh artisans and weavers
  • 1.84 lakh women entrepreneurs
  • 31,000 startups

Over the past eight years, GeM has achieved impressive milestones, including:

  • A 14-fold increase in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) in four years
  • A threefold expansion in user base
  • Currently hosting 1.64 lakh primary buyers and 4.2 lakh active sellers
  • Offering 10,000+ product categories and over 330 services

Among high-value transactions facilitated by GeM are:

  • ₹5,000 crore worth of equipment for the Akash Missile System
  • ₹5,085 crore in vaccine procurement
  • Specialised services such as drone solutions for AIIMS and insurance coverage for over 1.3 crore individuals

GeM is now fully adopted across all 36 states and Union Territories, with eight states—including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarhmandating its use.

The platform reaffirmed its commitment to driving digital transformation in public procurement, aiming to create a transparent, efficient, and inclusive marketplace for all stakeholders.
