Gal Gadot And Matthias Schoenaerts To Star In WWII Thriller Ruin, Directed By Niki Caro

Washington DC, May 2: Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts are set to headline the upcoming World War II thriller Ruin, directed by Mulan filmmaker Niki Caro, according to a report by Variety.

Written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, the screenwriters behind Marvel’s Eternals, Ruin is set in post-WWII Germany and centers on a dramatic revenge quest. Gadot plays a recently released concentration camp prisoner who forms an unlikely alliance with a former German soldier (Schoenaerts) as they hunt down a surviving Nazi SS squad responsible for wartime atrocities.

The film will be produced by Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures, alongside Gadot and her husband Jaron Varsano under their banner Pilot Wave Motion Pictures, with Caro also joining the production team.

Caro brings extensive experience in the genre, having directed the WWII drama The Zookeeper’s Wife, starring Jessica Chastain. Her directorial debut Whale Rider garnered global acclaim, earning Keisha Castle-Hughes an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Caro has also worked with Hollywood heavyweights Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand in North Country.

Gadot is currently filming The Runner for MGM Amazon and recently played the Evil Queen in Disney’s Snow White. She also completed work on Hand of Dante, directed by Julian Schnabel.

Schoenaerts, meanwhile, is keeping busy with high-profile projects including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and The Old Guard 2, both with Netflix.
