Yanin Rocío Campos Ruiz, who used to be on MasterChef México, died at the age of 38 in an automobile accident in Chihuahua. The Sun says that the tragedy happened on Saturday, August 2. It is said that Campos was driving along Periférico R. Almada when her automobile hit a parked car head-on.
The influencer was rushed to Christus Muguerza del Parque hospital right away, where she was in serious condition. She battled for her life in critical care for two days before succumbing to her injuries on Monday, August 4.
Her brother, Raúl Campos, wrote a touching statement on social media to let her admirers know that she had died and would be buried the same day. After the announcement, upsetting pictures of her car, which was badly damaged, started to spread online. Local authorities haven’t released a full report on the crash yet, even though the inquiry is still going on.
Who was Yanin Campos?
Before she was on TV, Yanin Campos was a nurse. But cooking was her real passion. Merca2.0 says that she saw food as a deep method to express herself and connect with her ethnic roots.
In 2018, she became well-known when she competed on the fourth season of MasterChef México. Even though she didn’t win, her colorful attitude and cooking talents made her a fan favorite, so she came back the next year for MasterChef: La Revancha. People remembered her both on and off television.
Campos was very interested in the food scene even after reality TV. She co-hosted a local TV show called La Tertulia, worked with famous chef Raúl Linares on several baking initiatives, and helped plan the menus for vegetarian restaurants. Her main purpose was to promote cuisine that was better for you, cleaner, and more meaningful.
People knew Campos for enjoying life the way she wanted. Merca2.0 says that she also signed up for the content platform OnlyFans, where she sold exclusive content for money. This choice raised some eyebrows, but it only made her public image as someone who wasn’t scared to go against what society expected of her stronger.
Campos created a solid community with more than 70,000 Instagram followers. Her admirers liked her not only because she was a good cook, but also because she was real and open about her life. She donned several hats over her life, including nurse, chef, host, entrepreneur, and content creator. Her tragic death has left a big hole in the hearts of her followers and the communities she founded.
