Five J&K Government Employees Sacked Over Suspected Terror Links

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday terminated the services of five government employees over alleged links to terrorist groups. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the move targets the “terror ecosystem and its infrastructure within government machinery.”

Over the past six years, the LG administration has removed 85 government employees after surveillance revealed involvement with terrorist outfits. The dismissals were carried out under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, which allows removal of a civil servant without a formal inquiry if it is deemed necessary for state security.

Names and Roles of Sacked Employees:

  • Mohammad Ishfaq – Teacher, School Education Department; linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT); arrested in April 2022 for planning to kill a police officer in Doda.
  • Tariq Ahmad Shah – Lab Technician; under influence of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen; implicated in 2005 during investigation into terrorist Amin Baba’s escape to Pakistan.
  • Bashir Ahmad Mir – Assistant Lineman, PHE Department; active Over Ground Worker (OGW) for LeT in Bandipora’s Gurez area.
  • Farooq Ahmad Bhat – Forest Department field worker; associated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.
  • Mohammad Yousuf – Driver, Health Department; in regular contact with terrorists, including Bashir Ahmad Bhat in Pakistan.

Security and intelligence agencies monitored these employees’ activities over time before action was taken.
