Washington [US], April 3: Prime Video has unveiled the first image of Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods in the upcoming prequel series, Elle. The photo captures Minetree portraying a teenage Elle Woods, dressed in a pink hoodie, lounging on pink bedding, and chatting with friends on a clear landline phone.
Reese Witherspoon, who originally played Elle Woods in the 2001 hit Legally Blonde, also shared the first look on her social media. She captioned the post, “Harvard was hard. High school was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production! Couldn’t be more excited to introduce you all to @leximinetree as Elle Woods.”
The prequel series, now in production, delves into Elle’s high school years, showcasing the formative experiences that shaped her into the confident, ambitious woman fans love from the original film.
Created by Laura Kittrell, the series is executive produced by Kittrell, Caroline Dries, Reese Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter. The cast includes June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother, Eva; Tom Everett Scott as her father, Wyatt; Gabrielle Policano as Liz, the anti-Elle Woods; and Jacob Moskovitz as Miles, the school’s star athlete. Additionally, Chandler Kinney joins as Kimberly, a sharp-tongued senior who often clashes with Elle.
Jason Moore, known for Pitch Perfect, is set to direct the first two episodes. The series is produced by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios.
