Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), July 14 – A fire broke out in the stationed coaches of the Hisar-Tirupati Special Train and Rayalaseema Express at the Tirupati Railway Station yard on Monday, as confirmed by Indian Railways.
According to the South Central Railway, the incident took place while the empty Hisar-Tirupati Special Train was being moved into the stabling yard during a routine shunting operation. Flames were first noticed in a general coach, which was immediately detached from the remaining coaches to prevent further spread.
The Fire Brigade Team responded swiftly, and the fire was successfully extinguished without any disruption to ongoing train services. No injuries or casualties have been reported, railway officials confirmed.
Railway PRO stated that the fire spread to two coaches across both the trains. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

In a related incident on Sunday, a freight train carrying diesel caught fire near Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The blaze affected the last three wagons, prompting emergency intervention by railway and fire authorities.
As a precautionary measure, all EMU local train services in the Chennai-Arakkonam section were suspended and Overhead Equipment (OHE) power was shut down temporarily. Residents living near the Tiruvallur Railway Station were also evacuated for safety, said District Collector M. Prathap.
By early Monday morning, Southern Railway restored the Up Slow line, with the Erode-Chennai Yercaud Express being the first train to pass through the affected section. Restoration on other lines is still ongoing.
The incident caused major disruption to services, and Southern Railway issued helpline numbers for affected passengers.
