Finnish President Alexander Stubb Says He Watched ‘Dhurandhar’ Before India Visit, Praises Spy Thriller

The global popularity of the Indian spy thriller Dhurandhar continues to grow, with even international leaders taking notice. Finnish President Alexander Stubb recently revealed that he watched the film before arriving in India for his official state visit.

Stubb is currently in India from March 4 to March 7, 2026, and during the trip he held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on various global and bilateral issues.

While speaking to ANI, the Finnish President shared an interesting anecdote about watching the movie before travelling to India.

‘My Son Suggested I Watch Dhurandhar’: Stubb

Speaking about the film, Alexander Stubb said it was his son who encouraged him to watch the movie before the trip.

He said,
“Interestingly enough, before I came to India, my son suggested I should watch Dhurandhar. And I did. Of course that was one part of the narrative of that movie. I am happy to fight against terrorism and look forward to the sequel on the 19th of March.”

His comments highlight the international reach of Indian cinema and the growing global appeal of high-budget action thrillers from Bollywood.

Dhurandhar 2 Trailer Released

Stubb’s remarks come on the same day that the makers released the trailer of the sequel, Dhurandhar 2.

The trailer features the return of Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who continues his undercover mission inside a terror network. The sequel expands the storyline introduced in the first film, with Jaskirat infiltrating a gang while secretly working to dismantle a terrorist organisation from within.

The trailer also features a remixed version of the popular track “Ari Ari” by Bombay Rockers playing in the background. It concludes with a dramatic dialogue in which the protagonist declares, “Now India will decide the future of Pakistan.”

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2026.

About the First Film Dhurandhar

The original Dhurandhar was released in theatres on December 5, 2025, and went on to become the highest-grossing film of the year.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film featured an ensemble cast including:

  • Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam
  • Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal
  • R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal
  • Sara Arjun as Yalina Jamali
  • Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamal

The film’s climax revealed a major twist involving Akshaye Khanna’s character Rahman Dakait, whose death sets the stage for the larger conspiracy in the sequel. It also unveiled that Hamza was actually Jaskirat, an undercover operative sent to Pakistan by Ajay Sanyal.

The film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.

Finland–India Talks During Stubb’s Visit

Apart from the cinematic discussion, Alexander Stubb’s visit to India focused on strengthening bilateral ties. During talks with Narendra Modi, the two leaders agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as:

  • Defence
  • Space technology
  • Semiconductors
  • Critical minerals

Stubb also emphasised the importance of ending Russia’s war against Ukraine and restoring peace in accordance with principles laid down by the United Nations.

Prime Minister Modi noted that cooperation between the two democratic nations would contribute to trustworthy technologies and resilient global supply chains.
