New Delhi [India], March 31: Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra, who recently made headlines for offering viral sensation Monalisa a role during the Kumbh Mela, has been arrested in connection with a rape case.
Mishra, 45, was apprehended by the Delhi Police on March 30, 2024, following intelligence gathering and technical surveillance. His arrest took place in Ghaziabad after the Delhi High Court rejected his bail plea. He was taken into custody by officers from Nabi Karim Police Station.
The case involves a 28-year-old woman from a small town who accused Mishra of repeatedly raping her over four years while they were in a live-in relationship in Mumbai. She further alleged that Mishra forced her to undergo abortions three times and later refused to marry her.
An FIR was registered on March 6, 2024, under multiple sections, including rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and criminal intimidation. The complainant’s allegations were supported by her statement recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Police gathered medical evidence related to the alleged abortions from Muzaffarnagar. The triggering incident reportedly occurred on February 18, 2025, when Mishra allegedly took the woman to Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim, had physical relations with her, and then abandoned her. This led to her filing a complaint.
Following an investigation, Mishra’s bail application was denied by the Delhi High Court, paving the way for his arrest.
