New Delhi [India]: As the battle for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 intensifies, the political arena has turned into a battleground of sharp rhetoric, satirical jabs, and aggressive campaigning.
AAP’s Freebies Promise
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a dig at its rivals, promising to continue its popular welfare schemes.
“As long as Kejriwal is there, no one can touch the free facilities of Delhiites,” AAP declared in a post on X.
The party also shared an AI-generated satirical video titled “Shark Tank: BJP Version,” portraying BJP leaders, including PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Parvesh Verma, and Ramesh Bidhuri, as participants in a fictional reality show.
BJP’s Counter-Attacks
The BJP retaliated with a series of video advertisements accusing AAP of corruption and mismanagement.
“Everywhere in Delhi, people are protesting against Mahathug and AAP-Da,” read a BJP post on X, accompanied by videos purportedly showing public criticism of the AAP government.
In another post, the BJP accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of disrespecting Purvanchali voters.
“Arvind Kejriwal, how dare you say this—that ‘the poor Purvanchal society is responsible for the pollution of Yamuna’? Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators are friends of AAP, but why so much hatred for Purvanchal society?” the BJP posted.
Candidates and Constituencies
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has confirmed that 719 candidates will contest across 70 assembly seats, with elections scheduled for February 5 and vote counting on February 8.
The highest number of candidates—23—are contesting in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal is facing stiff competition from BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, both sons of former Delhi Chief Ministers.
Historical Context and Outlook
AAP, which won 62 of 70 seats in the 2020 Delhi elections, is aiming to retain its dominance. The BJP, which secured eight seats last time, is looking to expand its footprint, while Congress seeks to make a comeback after two consecutive election setbacks.
The three-way contest promises a high-stakes showdown, with each party leaving no stone unturned in their bid to win over Delhi’s voters.
