Prime Video has officially unveiled the trailer for Young Sherlock, a high-octane origin story directed by Guy Ritchie. Reimagining the legendary detective as a rebellious, “unfiltered” 19-year-old university student, the series is set to premiere all eight episodes on March 4, 2026.
The trailer moves away from the traditional deerstalker and pipe, replacing them with Ritchie’s signature fast-paced, kinetic action and a younger, more anarchic version of the sleuth.
Key Plot Points: Oxford & The Moriarty Rivalry
- The Frame-Up: Set in 1870s Oxford, the story begins with a young Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) being framed for a murder. To clear his name and save his liberty, he must rely on his raw, unpolished instincts.
- Moriarty’s Debut: In a major twist on the lore, the series introduces a young, charismatic James Moriarty (played by Dónal Finn). The two reportedly cross paths during the investigation, leading to a globe-trotting conspiracy that takes Sherlock far beyond the halls of Oxford.
- The “Disgraced” Sherlock: This version is described as a “raw whippersnapper” who hasn’t yet evolved into the disciplined consulting detective of Baker Street.
