Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 11: Fans are thrilled as Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor gear up to light up the silver screen in their upcoming romantic film ‘Abir Gulaal’.
Building anticipation, the makers released a teaser of the song ‘Khudaya Ishq’ on Friday, calling it the “love anthem of the year.” The teaser showcases a magical moment where Fawad, visibly mesmerized, watches Vaani walk toward him in a stunning traditional look.
Vaani shared the teaser on Instagram, writing,
“Get ready for the love anthem of the year! ‘Khudaya Ishq’ is almost here! Bringing love back with Abir Gulaal–in cinemas on 9th May!”

Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, Abir Gulaal tells the story of two emotionally scarred individuals who, through an unexpected connection, begin to heal and rediscover love.
Earlier, on April 1, the film’s official teaser was unveiled, giving fans a glimpse into the soulful chemistry between Fawad and Vaani. In one particularly memorable scene inside a car on a rainy day, Vaani asks with a smile, “Are you flirting with me?” to which Fawad replies with his trademark charm, “Do you want me to?”
Director Aarti Bagdi described the film as an exploration of how love can arrive as an unplanned, beautiful outcome of emotional healing.
Produced by Vivek B. Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy, Abir Gulaal marks Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood after nearly nine years. His last Hindi film appearance was in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016), before tensions between India and Pakistan led to a halt in collaborations.
Fawad rose to prominence in India with his breakout performance in the Pakistani drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai and went on to star in successful Bollywood films like Khoobsurat and Kapoor & Sons.
Abir Gulaal is slated to release in cinemas on May 9, 2025.
