Father Of RG Kar Medical College Rape-Murder Victim Alleges Contradictory CBI Reports, Loses Faith In Legal System

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal) [India]: The father of the 31-year-old postgraduate doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has voiced serious concerns about the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), accusing the agency of submitting contradictory reports in different courts.

Speaking to media, he expressed frustration over the agency’s handling of the case and said:

“CBI has presented two drastically different reports in the Calcutta High Court and the Sealdah district Court… We will tell this today in the High Court that two different status reports are being presented… Even Supreme Court judges could not believe the gravity of the report submitted to them… We had faith in the CBI, but now we are losing all hope.”

He alleged that the CBI is aware of the identities of the perpetrators involved in his daughter’s rape and murder but is not disclosing key details, which has led to a loss of trust in the investigation.

“CBI knows the perpetrators behind the rape and murder of my daughter but it is not revealing the details…”

The grieving father also raised suspicions that someone might have illegally accessed his daughter’s mobile phone—a crucial piece of evidence in the case. He claimed that her friends noticed suspicious activity involving her phone recently.

“My daughter’s friends visited me two days ago and showed that somebody has accessed her phone to leave their common WhatsApp group. The CBI has her phone but they deny having it… Her mobile phone has all the answers… I have no faith in anyone in the Indian legal system anymore…”

The incident occurred on August 9, 2024, when the trainee doctor was found dead in a seminar room on the college campus. The brutal crime sparked nationwide protests, demanding swift justice and accountability.

The Calcutta High Court had transferred the investigation to the CBI after expressing dissatisfaction with the local police probe. The CBI has since made multiple arrests, including that of Sanjay Roy, who has been convicted as the main accused.

The Supreme Court is currently hearing the case suo motu, with Senior Advocate Karuna Nundy representing the victim’s parents in court.
