Farhan Akhtar has finally cleared the air around one of Bollywood’s most awaited projects. During a candid interaction with fans, the filmmaker confirmed that Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, is very much on track and will begin production next year.
‘Next Year I Will Start Work on Don 3’
While promoting his upcoming war drama 120 Bahadur, Farhan addressed months of speculation surrounding the third instalment of the iconic Don franchise.
“Next year I will start work on Don 3,” he said, putting an end to rumours that the film had been shelved.
The franchise, which began with Amitabh Bachchan’s cult classic and later featured Shah Rukh Khan as the charismatic crime boss, took a bold turn in August 2023 when a teaser introduced Ranveer Singh as the new Don. In the announcement video, Ranveer was seen lighting a cigarette and delivering the iconic introduction line — a moment that immediately sent social media into frenzy.
With Farhan confirming that the film will finally roll in 2026, expectations around the rebooted universe are higher than ever.
Who Will Play the Female Lead?
While Kiara Advani was initially rumoured to be part of the film, industry buzz now hints at Kriti Sanon joining Ranveer Singh. However, Farhan has not made any official casting announcements yet, and the plot remains tightly under wraps.
‘Jee Le Zaraa’ Still On Hold
Farhan also addressed queries about Jee Le Zaraa, the much-anticipated all-female road-trip drama announced with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif.
“There is no update on Jee Le Zaraa. When I do, I will inform you,” he said, confirming that the film remains stalled for now.
Meanwhile…
Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur is geared for release on November 21, marking his return to the big screen with a powerful war narrative.
