Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan shared a hilarious exchange with comedian-actor Vir Das over their films during a recent visit to Vir’s Mumbai home for her vlog. The conversation turned playful when Vir compared his directorial debut, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, to Farah’s hits Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year.
While introducing his film to Farah’s cook, Vir jokingly described Happy Patel as “usi type ka pagalpan, faltu type ki picture” (a crazy and silly film just like Happy New Year). Farah, initially shocked, quipped back, “You mean to say mine was half faltu?” The two shared a lighthearted banter, with Vir clarifying that it was his own film that was fully ‘faltu’.
Farah later praised the trailer of Happy Patel, saying she loved the humour and Vir’s character accent. Vir added that fans of Om Shanti Om would enjoy his film, as it draws inspiration from Farah’s iconic comedy style. “Om Shanti Om is a film where the script is ridiculous, but the actors are playing it as if it’s completely real,” Vir said, prompting Farah to jokingly question whether it was a compliment or an insult.
Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos is a quirky spy caper following Happy Patel, a clumsy but enthusiastic spy whose missions go hilariously awry. Directed by Vir Das, the film also stars Mona Singh, Sharib Hashmi, and Srushti Tawade, with cameos by Imran Khan and Aamir Khan. The movie is set to release in theatres on January 16, 2026.
