Family of Accused Raj Kushwaha Breaks Silence in Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case, Claims He’s Innocent

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 11: The family of Raj Singh Kushwaha, one of the accused in the sensational Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, has pleaded for justice, claiming he is being falsely implicated.

Raj’s sister told that they haven’t been allowed to meet him since his arrest. “My brother has not done anything wrong. He should get justice. We haven’t seen him since Sunday. When we went to the Crime Branch, they didn’t allow us to meet him. He never spoke about Sonam Raghuvanshi. After our father died, he became the sole breadwinner and left studies after Class 10. We cannot even afford to go to Meghalaya to see him,” she said.

His mother echoed similar sentiments, insisting that her son is innocent and being “trapped.” She said, “Raj is too young and has always been responsible. He started working in Govind’s office, who is Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother, after my husband passed away in 2020. He took care of our family. Please save my son. I know nothing about any relationship between Raj and Sonam. He is being framed. I have no one to take me to Meghalaya,” she said in a tearful appeal.

Meanwhile, all four accused in the case — Sonam Raghuvanshi (wife of the deceased), Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — have been brought to Shillong, Meghalaya, under transit remand for further investigation.

The accused were taken to the Shillong Sadar police station and later scheduled for medical examination at the Civil Line hospital before being presented in court. Earlier, Sonam Raghuvanshi was taken to Ganesh Das Hospital for a medical check-up. She is currently on a three-day transit remand.

The case erupted after the body of Raja Raghuvanshi, who had recently married and was on honeymoon, was found on June 2 in a gorge near Sohra, close to Cherrapunji in Meghalaya. Sonam was found days later near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway.

Raja and Sonam, both residents of Indore, had gone missing during their honeymoon, prompting a massive investigation that eventually led to the arrest of five people, including Sonam.
