MUMBAI — The long-standing and public family feud between Aamir Khan and his brother Faissal Khan has escalated, with Faissal releasing a formal statement announcing that he has severed all ties with his family. The announcement comes just days after Aamir and his family issued a statement calling Faissal’s recent remarks about mistreatment and forced medication “misleading.”
In an official statement shared with Bollywood Bubble, Faissal Khan declared that he has “severed all ties, familial as well as in estate,” with his family members. He stated that he will no longer be considered a part of the family of his late father, Tahir Husain, or his mother, Zeenat Tahir Husain. Faissal also clarified that he will no longer reside at his brother Aamir’s residence or accept any monthly allowance or maintenance from him.
Accusations of Mistreatment and Legal History
Faissal’s statement detailed what he calls “unfortunate past events” that led to his decision. He alleged that from 2005 to 2007, he was subjected to “unwanted forced medication” and was confined to his home “akin to house arrest” from 2005 to 2006. He further claimed that in October 2007, when he was being forced to give up his signatory rights, he left home. At that time, his mother and sister allegedly made “false allegations” that he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and was a “danger to society.”
Faissal noted that a court case followed, and in February 2008, the court ruled in his favor, rejecting the claims made by his family. He has since accused his family of “conspiring against me and defaming me” by publishing recent statements in the media, which he says have jeopardized his career.
Aamir and Family’s Response
Faissal’s decision follows a recent interview where he reiterated his long-standing claims that Aamir had kept him under house arrest for over a year. Following these remarks, Aamir Khan and his family released a joint statement expressing their distress. They called Faissal’s portrayal of his mother, sister, and brother “hurtful and misleading.” The family’s statement also noted that this was not the first time he had “misrepresented these events” and that all decisions regarding his well-being were made collectively, in consultation with medical professionals, and out of “love and compassion.”
Faissal, however, has dismissed this statement as a further attempt at defamation and has announced his intention to take further legal steps by filing a writ petition in court next month. The public feud, which has spanned over a decade, shows no signs of resolution as the brothers present conflicting narratives of a painful and private family matter.
