On what would have been Dharmendra’s 90th birthday, his daughter Esha Deol penned an emotional tribute on Monday, marking her first public post since the legendary actor passed away two weeks ago. Dharmendra, who died at 89, would have turned 90 today.
Esha shared a series of warm, happy photographs of Dharmendra—some featuring the father-daughter duo together. Her deeply personal note reflected the bond she cherished with her father.
“To my darling Papa,” she began, “Our pact, the strongest bond, unites us through all our lifetimes, all the realms, and beyond. We are always together, papa. Be it heaven or earth, we are one. For now, I have very tenderly, carefully, and preciously tucked you in my heart… deep, deep inside to carry on with me for the rest of this lifetime.”
Esha went on to recall the lessons and love Dharmendra gave her: “The magical precious memories… the life lessons, the teachings, the guidance, the warmth, the unconditional love, the dignity, and the strength you have given me as your daughter cannot be replaced or matched by any other. I so painfully miss you, papa—your warm protective hugs that felt like the coziest blanket, holding your soft yet strong hands which had unspoken messages, and your voice calling out my name, followed by endless conversations, laughter, and shayaris.”
She also remembered Dharmendra’s life motto: “Always be humble, be happy, healthy & strong.”
“I promise to continue your legacy with pride and respect,” Esha wrote. “And I will try my best to spread your love to the millions who love you as I do. I love you, papa.

Dharmendra’s Passing on November 24
Dharmendra died at his Mumbai residence on November 24, days after being discharged from Breach Candy Hospital on November 12. He had been admitted in late October after complaining of breathlessness.
During his hospitalisation, several media outlets prematurely reported his death, prompting Esha to issue a clarification: “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Esha Deol attended the cremation on November 24. A prayer meet for the veteran actor was held three days later at a Mumbai hotel, while Hema Malini hosted another private prayer ceremony at her residence the same day.
Esha shared a warm and respectful relationship with Dharmendra. Reports from the past indicate that when she chose to separate from her former husband Bharat Takhtani, Dharmendra had advised her to reconsider the decision.
