London, UK | July 30, 2025: England Women’s cricket team will host Ireland Women next year in September for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series. The series will be a crucial part of the next cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship, with both teams vying for valuable points that contribute to qualification for the 2029 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
The series is scheduled to take place shortly after the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will also be hosted by England and Wales in June-July 2026. The ODI matches against Ireland will be held at venues across the Midlands: Leicester, Derby, and Worcester.
While Ireland is not participating in the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka later this year, they are aiming to leverage this series against England in 2026 to bolster their chances of qualifying for the 2029 event.
Richard Holdsworth, Ireland’s director of cricket, expressed his satisfaction with the early announcement of the fixtures. “It is good to be able to announce these International Women’s Championship ODI fixture dates so early, as it helps the team plan the rest of their summer in 2026,” Holdsworth stated, as quoted by the ICC. “These are significantly important matches as they are part of the 2029 ODI World Cup qualification structure. We are also pleased to be based in the Midlands and happy that all venues are so close to each other.”
Series Schedule:
- First ODI: Leicester, September 1, 2026
- Second ODI: Derby, September 3, 2026
- Third ODI: Worcester, September 6, 2026
