The latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19 delivered a moment of genuine surprise and heartfelt confession, officially putting an end to one of Bollywood’s most talked-about feuds. Host and superstar Salman Khan broke his silence on his long-standing rift with singer Arijit Singh, confirming that all is well between them.
Salman Takes Responsibility for the Misunderstanding
The unexpected confession was prompted by a light-hearted moment featuring special guest, comedian Ravi Gupta. Ravi joked that he was nervous to meet Salman because people often say he resembles Arijit Singh.
Salman, instead of brushing the comment aside, smiled warmly and revealed the truth about their relationship: “Arijit aur main bahut acche dost hai. Jo misunderstanding thi, meri side se thi. Uske baad usne gaane bhi kiye mere liye. Tiger me kiya tha, ab Galwan me kar raha hai.”
(Translation: Arijit and I are very good friends. The misunderstanding that happened was on my side. After that, he even sang songs for me. He sang in Tiger, and now he’s singing in Galwan.)
This candid statement is the first time the superstar has publicly admitted that the years of tension were due to a misunderstanding on his part.
The Origin of the 2014 Rift
The infamous cold war dates back to an award show in 2014 where Salman Khan was the host. When Arijit came on stage to receive an award, dressed casually in a T-shirt and slippers, Salman teasingly asked, “Were you asleep?”
Arijit’s lighthearted response, “You guys put me to sleep,” was unfortunately taken the wrong way by the actor. This seemingly innocent exchange snowballed into a major industry controversy. In the following years, multiple reports claimed that Arijit’s tracks were dropped from Salman’s projects, including a key song from the 2016 film Sultan.
A Reconciliation Confirmed by Music
In 2016, Arijit had publicly apologized to Salman via a social media post, even requesting that his version of the song for Sultan be retained, but the apology did not seem to mend the rift at the time.
The ice finally and definitively broke when Arijit lent his voice to the hit dance number “Le Ke Prabhu Ka Naam” from the 2023 blockbuster Tiger 3. This collaboration, which became a chartbuster, was widely viewed by fans as the official signal that the two had reconciled.
Now, with Salman openly calling Arijit his friend and announcing their next collaboration for his upcoming project “Galwan”, a long and speculated chapter in Bollywood history is officially closed.
