Netflix has officially dropped the stylish teaser for Emily in Paris Season 5, transporting Emily Cooper from the City of Love to the Eternal City of Rome. While Lily Collins and the main cast look as chic as ever, one familiar face is noticeably absent: Lucas Bravo, who plays Emily’s charming neighbour and on-again, off-again love interest, Gabriel.
His missing presence in the trailer—which shows Emily on a “fresh adventure” in Rome, complete with a new romantic interest, Marcello—immediately sparked intense speculation among the global fanbase about the future of his character.
Lucas Keeps Fans Guessing on Gabriel’s Fate
The French actor, who was recently promoting his HBO Max series The Seduction, finally addressed the elephant in the room. Speaking with E! News, Bravo was deliberately cryptic, suggesting the mystery is part of the fun.
“I can’t tell, you know what, I would love to tell you something, but I like how they decided,” Bravo said, remaining tight-lipped. “I mean, I like the fact that I’m not in the trailer and that it creates a conversation. I’m going to keep the conversations running. I won’t say anything.”
Bravo’s coyness has only fueled the fan theories, especially given his past public comments where he expressed frustration with Gabriel’s melancholic storyline in previous seasons. However, the official cast list confirms his return, suggesting a dramatic reveal is being held back until the December premiere.
Creator Explains Emily’s Italian Adventure
The season’s shift in location is a major pivot for the series. Emily in Paris creator, Darren Star, provided some clarity on the bicoastal storyline in a conversation with Tudum.
“This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level,” Star explained. He confirmed that while Emily will have a significant “presence in Rome,” she will not be entirely abandoning Paris.
Star added that the decision to send Emily to Italy was a deliberate move to “surprise viewers” and show that the series can expand its scope with fresh locations and adventures. The teaser also features glimpses of Emily enjoying the breathtaking canals of Venice.
The new season, which is scheduled to premiere on December 18, will see the return of main cast members including Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold, and Lucien Laviscount, alongside new characters set to add more excitement and intrigue to Emily’s complicated life.
