Elon Musk Apologizes To President Trump; White House Confirms No Review Of Tesla Contracts

Washington, DC [US]: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday (local time) said that US President Donald Trump acknowledged Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s apology for his recent comments.

Leavitt, in her media briefing, said that following the incident, the administration has turned its attention back to serving the American people.

“The President acknowledged the statement that Elon put out this morning and he is appreciative of it and we are continuing to focus on the business of the American people,” she said.

When asked whether the administration had initiated a review of Musk’s government contracts—something President Trump previously indicated he was considering—Leavitt clarified that no such actions had been taken so far.

“Currently have no efforts have been made on that front as far as I’m aware,” she said.

On Wednesday, Musk said in a post on X, “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”

According to CNN, Musk called Trump on Monday night before issuing his public apology early Wednesday, expressing regret over his recent social media remarks about the President during their public spat last week.

The brief call with President Trump followed a conversation on Friday between Musk, Vice President JD Vance, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, during which the three discussed the dispute between the President and the Tesla CEO, two sources familiar with the talks told CNN.

Over the past week, Republican lawmakers and key Trump allies have quietly reached out to Musk, urging him to reconcile with the President and back his domestic policy bill.

During Musk’s earlier time as Trump’s “first buddy,” many of the President’s closest advisers established relationships with the tech billionaire. These ties were leveraged after the public fallout to encourage Musk to repair relations.

Sources told CNN that through text messages and calls, Trump allies attempted to de-escalate tensions and emphasize the importance of what Trump refers to as his “Big Beautiful Bill,” which faces challenges in the Senate. Musk was reportedly open to these discussions but remained critical of the bill’s insufficient spending cuts.
