Raigad (Maharashtra) [India], June 9: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Raigad Fort on Monday to participate in the 352nd anniversary celebrations of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
To ensure smooth proceedings and public convenience, Raigad Superintendent of Police Aanchal Dalal confirmed that 800 police personnel were deployed across the fort premises. “We’ve made adequate traffic diversions and introduced a shuttle bus service to avoid inconvenience to the visitors,” she told.
The Shiv Rajyabhishek celebrations extended beyond Raigad, with events also being held in cities like Nagpur, where cultural programs were organised to honour the Maratha warrior king’s historic coronation.
In a major highlight of the day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the Bharat Gaurav Special Tourist Train from Mumbai. This train is part of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit and will take passengers on a six-day tour of significant locations from Shivaji Maharaj’s life.
Speaking at the launch, Fadnavis said, “My greetings to everyone on Shiv Rajyabhishek Day. It was 351 years ago that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Hindavi Swaraj. The Bharat Gaurav Yatra Train will take citizens to prominent places associated with the life and legacy of Shivaji Maharaj.”
According to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the train began its journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and is headed to Mangaon Railway Station, the nearest access point to Raigad Fort on the Konkan Railway route.
