Ek Din First Look: Junaid Khan–Sai Pallavi Poster Faces Backlash Over ‘Copy-Paste’ Allegations

The first-look poster of upcoming romance drama Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, was unveiled on Thursday, but the reveal quickly sparked criticism on social media. Within hours of its release, a section of netizens took to Reddit, alleging that the poster was copied from the original Thai film on which the movie is based.

Poster Draws ‘Copy’ Allegations Online

Reacting to the poster, one Reddit user claimed that the makers had lifted the original artwork without modification.
Remake of Thai movie—original movie ke poster hi use kiya hai. Title bhi wahi translate karke utha liya (They used the original movie’s poster and simply translated the title),” the user wrote.

Another comment read, “Remaakxe ka betaaj badshah (King of remakes) Indian Nolan Aamir sir is back,” a sarcastic remark aimed at producer Aamir Khan.

Several other users echoed similar sentiments. “Now I remember, I thought the same—this resembles some old movie poster,” one Redditor commented, while another asked, “Why not do something different instead of resembling the original?”

About Ek Din and Its Original Version

Ek Din is set to release in theatres across India on May 1, the makers announced alongside the poster. The film is directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, headed by Aamir Khan, who is also Junaid Khan’s father.

Sharing the poster, the production house wrote on social media:
“In the chaos of life, love will find you… Ek Din.”

The film was previously titled Mere Raho and was initially scheduled for a November 2025 release before being postponed.

Ek Din is reportedly a remake of the 2016 Thai romantic drama One Day, directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and starring Chantavit Dhanasevi and Nittha Jirayungyurn.

The story revolves around a shy young man who falls in love with his colleague but lacks the courage to express his feelings. He wishes to spend just one day with her—and unexpectedly, the wish comes true.

The Hindi adaptation is written by Sneha Desai and Spandan Mishra, with music composed by Ram Sampath.

Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan’s Career Highlights

Ek Din marks Sai Pallavi’s Hindi film debut. She is widely known for her critically acclaimed performances in films such as Premam, Shyam Singha Roy, Gargi and Amaran.

For Junaid Khan, Ek Din is his third feature film. He made his acting debut with Maharaj in 2024 and followed it up with the romantic comedy Loveyapa in 2025.
