Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], March 31: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi extended his best wishes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, expressing hope for peace and justice in the country.
“I extend my best wishes to all on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, and we hope that peace and justice will prevail in our country…” Owaisi told reporters.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also greeted people on the occasion, highlighting the festival’s message of unity.
“Today, I extend my warm greetings to all the people of the state, country, and the world. We celebrate Eid with joy by embracing each other and respecting each other’s traditions. This is the beauty of our country, where people of different religions live together,” Yadav said.
Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, was celebrated across India with special prayers (Namaz) at mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds. The sighting of the moon brought families and communities together in celebration.
In Delhi, large gatherings were seen at the historic Jama Masjid, while in cities like Vadodara, Agra, and Ghaziabad, Muslims participated in Eid prayers and exchanged warm greetings. Agra witnessed special prayers near the Taj Mahal, where devotees prayed for peace and unity.
However, the celebrations were accompanied by protests in some areas against the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. In Hyderabad, demonstrators outside the Ujale Shah Eidgah in Saidabad tied black bands to their hands in opposition to the bill. A similar protest was observed in Aishbagh, where a few people voiced their concerns while others participated in Eid prayers.
Authorities heightened security in several cities to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Eid-ul-Fitr, meaning “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reflection. It is a time of gratitude, charity, and compassion, with many people offering Zakat (charitable donations) and supporting the less fortunate through food, clothing, and other assistance.
