Egypt has reiterated its strong commitment to the Palestinian people’s rights, including their right to return, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state.
In a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Egypt emphasized that the only way to ensure peace and security in the Middle East is through a fair resolution that upholds the rights of all peoples, including Palestinians. The statement condemned the Israeli occupation and the ongoing aggression on Gaza, calling for an international approach that guarantees justice.
Call for International Action
Egypt urged the global and regional community to unite behind a political vision that ends the historic injustice faced by Palestinians and restores their inalienable rights.
The statement reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering opposition to any compromise on Palestinian rights, emphasizing:
- The right to self-determination and independence
- The right of return for Palestinian refugees, as per international law, UN resolutions, and human rights conventions
- The importance of Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state
Commitment to Peace
Egypt warned that ignoring international legitimacy in resolving regional conflicts threatens global peace and stability. The country pledged to continue working with regional and international partners to achieve a comprehensive and just peace, based on the June 4, 1967, borders with Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.
