Ed Sheeran Drops New Song ‘Drive’ for Brad Pitt’s ‘F1: The Movie’; Teases Punjabi Version of ‘Sapphire’ with Arijit Singh

Los Angeles [US], June 20: British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has released a brand-new track titled “Drive” from Brad Pitt’s upcoming film F1: The Movie, ahead of its release. The track is part of F1: The Album, a high-profile soundtrack curated by Atlantic Records.

Produced by John Mayer and Blake Slatkin, “Drive” features an impressive lineup of musicians including Mayer on guitar, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, and Rami Jaffee on keyboards. Slatkin also contributed additional keyboards and drum programming, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The soundtrack is being helmed by Atlantic Records West Coast President Kevin Weaver, who previously produced hit albums like Barbie: The Album, Twisters: The Album, The Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad, Daisy Jones & The Six, and Birds of Prey. He is joined by Atlantic Records’ EVP Brandon Davis and SVP Joseph Khoury.

Meanwhile, Sheeran is also enjoying the global success of his recent collaboration with Indian playback sensation Arijit Singh on the track “Sapphire.”

In an Instagram post, Sheeran shared the creative journey behind “Sapphire,” stating, “It was the first song I finished for Play that made me know where the album was heading. That’s why I finished the recording process in Goa, surrounded by some of the best musicians in India.”

He revealed that the accompanying music video was filmed during his India tour earlier this year, aiming to “showcase the beauty and breadth of the country and its culture.”

Sheeran also confirmed that a full Punjabi version of the song, featuring more vocals by Arijit Singh, will be released in the coming weeks. Calling “Sapphire” his favourite track on the album, he said, “It was a journey to get there and such an amazing day of music and family.”
