Washington [US], May 21: British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has revealed that he’s officially invited to the upcoming wedding of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.
In a recent conversation reported by People, Sheeran was asked if he had received an invitation, to which he replied with a confirming “Mm-hmm.” He also noted that Blanco, with whom he’s collaborated on several songs, was present at his own intimate 2018 wedding to Cherry Seaborn.
While the couple hasn’t finalized many wedding details yet, Blanco recently mentioned on the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast that the only element he has firmly decided on is the food — particularly the challah, a traditional Jewish bread. “I want [Jewish cook and food writer] Jake Cohen to do the challah,” Blanco said. “He makes the best challah I’ve ever had.”
Gomez and Blanco are also skipping one traditional element: the first dance. According to Blanco, Gomez is “shy,” and that’s part of the reason behind the decision. However, Gomez has expressed her desire to do a “special dance” with her maternal grandfather to include him in wedding memories he missed when her mother got married.
The couple, who got engaged in December 2024, opened up about how their romance evolved. Blanco, 37, recalled feeling excited yet at peace every time they spent time together, saying,
“Every day I was with her I was so excited for what was going to happen, yet so at ease with everything… I was like, ‘Wow, I truly met my soulmate.’”
Their relationship began casually but turned serious over time, leading to their public confirmation and eventual engagement.
