Washington [US], January 27: Global pop sensation Ed Sheeran recently shared that he had the privilege of becoming the first international artist to perform in Bhutan. Reflecting on the milestone, Sheeran posted a video on Instagram showcasing highlights from his visit to the South Asian country.
“Had the honour to be the first-ever international artist to play Bhutan last night,” he wrote in the caption, referring to his performance at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu. “What a gig, what a country, what a beautiful place with incredible people,” he added.
The experience clearly made a lasting impression on Sheeran, who expressed a desire to return to the country. “Lemme know if I can move there, please and thank you,” he joked. He also thanked the people of Bhutan for their warm welcome, noting that the show was “historic” and expressing hope that he would return soon.
In the video, Sheeran marveled at the significance of performing in Bhutan, stating, “It’s mad that this is the first international concert here,” and adding, “I hope that there’s many more to come.” He reflected on his journey, saying, “I can remember playing in an empty room and now I get to play the first international concert in Bhutan ever.”
Looking ahead, Sheeran also shared details about the conclusion of his long-running Mathematics World Tour, which will wrap up in 2025. “2025 is the end of the Mathematics Tour,” he confirmed in a video posted in July 2024. He teased upcoming shows in Europe, with the tour kicking off in Madrid, Spain, on May 5, followed by performances in Rome, Oslo, Zurich, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. The final European show will take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, on September 9, 2025.
