ED Raids RJD MLA Alok Kumar Mehta’s Residence In Alleged Bank Fraud Case

Patna (Bihar) [India]: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at the residence of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Alok Kumar Mehta in connection with an alleged bank fraud case.

The raids are part of a larger investigation involving financial irregularities linked to Mehta, with ED officials searching 17 locations associated with the case. The operation began early in the morning, focusing on allegations of misuse of public funds, adding to the increasing scrutiny of opposition leaders by central agencies.

Alok Kumar Mehta, who represents the Ujiarpur constituency, is a key figure in Bihar politics and a close associate of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. Over the years, Mehta has held significant positions in the Bihar government, including serving as a cabinet minister handling cooperative development portfolios.

Known for his advocacy of social justice, a fundamental principle of the RJD’s ideology, Mehta has also been an outspoken critic of the BJP-led central government. His grassroots mobilization efforts and role in shaping party strategies have made him a prominent political leader in the state.

However, Mehta’s political career has not been without controversy. The current allegations of financial misconduct have placed him under heightened scrutiny, with central agencies like the ED intensifying their investigations.
