Los Angeles – The world is still buzzing about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, and now Ed Kelce, the groom-to-be’s father, is sharing some private details about the big day.
Ed Kelce told News 5’s John Kosich that his son asked the pop star to marry him in a secluded garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, roughly two weeks before the public announcement on Instagram. Ed said that the proposal happened when the couple was getting ready for dinner. “He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine.’ They got out there, and that’s when he asked her. It was beautiful,” he added.
The ecstatic father also said that Travis had planned to wait until this week to propose, hoping for a “grand thing” to make it a “big special event.” But he saw that Swift was “getting maybe a little antsy,” and both his father and Swift’s father, Scott Swift, told him to “do it any place that makes it a special event.”
After the proposal, the first thing the pair did was tell their family how happy they were. Ed Kelce said that Travis and Taylor called their parents right away to tell them the news. “They started FaceTiming me, their mom, and her family to make sure everyone knew,” he added. “So, it’s great to see them together.”
People have been talking about the engagement for months, and it was revealed on Instagram with a combined post that said, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” This was a dig to the fact that they had different jobs. The post, which had a lot of beautiful pictures from the proposal, has now gotten millions of likes and congratulations from fans and celebrities.
