the Election Commission of India (ECI) On Monday, showed off a new digital platform called ECINet. Its goal is to combine about 40 online and mobile services into one app.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar called ECINet the “mother of all apps” when he announced its introduction. He said it was made to make the voting and election administration process easier for voters, officers, and stakeholders.
The Election Commission has produced over 40 distinct apps throughout the years, one at a time. “Because not every voter or stakeholder can download all 40 apps, we wanted to make ECINet the mother of all apps,” Kumar said at a press briefing.
“Now, the app has almost all of the apps and services in it. He went on to say, “And its gradual rollout as the ‘one-stop digital platform’ will begin with the Bihar elections on November 6.”
One Place for All Election Services
The ECINet app will be a one-stop shop for all things election-related, with real-time voter turnout data, a helpline, tools for preparing elections, services for voters, and results of the vote.
Some of the most important things about ECINet are:
Know Your Candidate: Gives you reliable information about the candidates running for office.
Suvidha 2.0 lets consumers find polling places, verify the progress of their applications, and file complaints.
Expenditure Monitoring System: Makes it possible to see how much money is being spent on elections in a clear way.
Saksham is a training and resource package for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) that gives them real-time instructions and updates during the voting process.
Updates on Voter Turnout in Real Time
The ability to track voter turnout in real time is one of the biggest new features of ECINet. On polling days, presiding officers will update turnout data every two hours. This will cut down on delays and give us a better idea of how people are voting.
The Election Commission said that this change is meant to “decrease the time lag in the updates of approximate voting trends” and make monitoring elections more open.
The Bihar elections are the first step in putting this into action.
The EC said that the first use of ECINet will be during the Bihar Assembly elections, which start on November 6, 2025. After the rollout, the Commission wants to slowly add more tools and capabilities before making the platform available across the country.
The app should make it easier for people to find all the information and services they need for the election in one place. This is a big step forward for the ECI’s ambitions to use technology to run the government.
