As counting continued for the Bihar Assembly elections, Janata Dal (United) candidate Maheshwar Hazari emerged as the first officially declared winner, according to the Election Commission of India.
Representing the Kalyanpur constituency, Hazari secured a decisive victory with 1,18,162 votes, defeating CPIM(L) Liberation’s Ranjeet Kumar Ram, who received 79,576 votes—a margin of 38,586 votes.
Jan Suraaj Party’s Ram Balak Paswan finished third with 16,574 votes.
Overall Trends in Bihar Election Results
According to the latest Election Commission figures:
- JD(U) and BJP have won six seats each so far.
- RJD has secured one seat.
- JD(U) was leading in 77 seats, BJP in 85, and RJD in 26 constituencies.
Other Key Wins
- Rana Randhir (BJP) retained the Madhuban seat for a third consecutive term, winning by 5,492 votes.
- Raju Kumar Singh (BJP) won the Sahebganj seat by 13,522 votes.
- Sanjay Kumar Pandey (BJP) won Narkatiaganj by 26,458 votes.
- Anant Kumar Singh (JD(U)), who was jailed during the election period in connection with a murder case, won the Mokama seat by 28,206 votes.
Maheshwar Hazari’s early and wide-margin victory has set the tone as counting continues across the state.
