Many people avoid combining fruits with milk due to concerns about milk curdling, but fitness coach Ralston D’Souza has clarified that this pairing is safe. The common worry stems from the reaction between acidic fruits and milk, which can cause curdling.
Ralston explained that milk contains casein proteins that usually repel each other, keeping the liquid smooth. When exposed to acidic fruits like citrus, the pH drops, and the proteins clump together, creating curdling. However, this process is natural and happens in the stomach as part of normal digestion. Paneer, for example, is made using a similar curdling process and is completely safe to eat.
The coach emphasized that pairing vitamin C-rich fruits with milk does not make the combination unhealthy. People with lactose intolerance or specific gut issues may need to be cautious, but for most individuals, eating fruits with milk poses no risk.
In summary, fruits and milk can be enjoyed together without fear of digestive problems, and curdling is simply a normal part of digestion.
