New Delhi [India], June 8: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will undertake an official visit to France, the European Union (EU), and Belgium from June 8 to 14, 2025, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday. The diplomatic tour is aimed at deepening India’s strategic and economic partnerships with key European nations.
Jaishankar’s first stop will be in Paris and Marseille, France, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot. Highlighting the significance of the trip, the MEA stated, “India and France have completed 25 years of strategic partnership rooted in deep trust and mutual commitment.”
In addition to engaging with senior French officials, Jaishankar will interact with think tanks, media, and participate in the inaugural Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue in Marseille.
The visit will also see the EAM holding a Strategic Dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas, further underscoring the growing collaboration between India and the European Union. “The India-EU partnership has expanded significantly and was further strengthened during the historic visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India in February this year,” the MEA noted.
In Brussels, Jaishankar will conduct high-level consultations with Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot. Discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in areas including trade, green energy, pharmaceuticals, technology, and the diamond sector.
India and Belgium enjoy robust bilateral relations and vibrant economic engagement, supported by strong people-to-people ties. During his visit, Jaishankar is also expected to meet with members of the Indian diaspora in Belgium.
The Ministry emphasized that the week-long visit will boost India’s global diplomatic engagement and inject fresh momentum into partnerships across multiple strategic and economic sectors with France, the EU, and Belgium.
