🇺🇸 US State Department’s Briefing:
Tommy Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of State, stated,
“Secretary Rubio will host foreign ministers from Australia, India, and Japan on July 1 for the 2025 Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting… This summit builds on the momentum of Rubio’s first diplomatic engagement, which was also with the Quad.”
🛡️ About the Quad:
Formed after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the Quad—comprising India, the US, Japan, and Australia—is a strategic partnership aimed at ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. It champions respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a rules-based international order.
In their January joint statement, Quad ministers emphasized their unified opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion, a clear reference to regional tensions in the Indo-Pacific.
As the world closely watches this high-level diplomatic engagement, Jaishankar’s visit underscores India’s growing leadership role in shaping a stable and secure Indo-Pacific and in reinforcing global efforts against terrorism.
