EAM Jaishankar Hails WAVES 2025 As Microcosm Of Global Creative Community, Stresses Ethical Use Of AI

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday hailed the WAVES 2025 summit as a vibrant platform that represents a “microcosm of the global community,” uniting stakeholders from across the media, entertainment, and creative industries.

Speaking at the Global Media Dialogue in Mumbai, which he co-chaired alongside Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and L Murugan, Jaishankar underscored the transformative power of culture and emerging technologies in shaping the global order.

“Delighted to co-chair…WAVES 2025 rightly represents a microcosm of the global community, including content creators, policy makers, actors, writers, producers & visual artists,” Jaishankar posted on X.

Highlighting the cultural dimension of shifting world dynamics, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of giving voice to India’s traditions, heritage, and creativity, particularly as the world navigates technological change.

He also underlined the need for robust physical and digital infrastructure to facilitate a globally competitive workforce.

“For a global workplace and workforce, we need shifts in mindsets, frameworks, policies, and practices. It is crucial to prepare young talent for an era of creative communication, sports, and collaborations,” he stated.

On the topic of Artificial Intelligence, Jaishankar acknowledged its vast potential while urging responsible innovation.

“The era of AI holds possibilities beyond imagination… But responsible use, reducing bias, democratizing content, and ethical prioritization must remain at the forefront,” he added.

WAVES 2025, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, is India’s first international summit exclusively focused on the audio-visual and entertainment sectors. The four-day event features participation from over 90 countries, drawing 10,000+ delegates, 1,000 creators, 300+ companies, and 350 startups.

The summit aims to foster global dialogue, partnerships, and innovation in creative industries, placing India at the heart of the evolving global creative economy.
