BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Cites CIA Document To Allege Soviet-Era Funding Of 150 Congress MPs

New Delhi (India): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, alleging that over 150 Congress MPs were funded by the Soviet Union during the Cold War era, acting as “agents” for Russia.

In a post on social media platform X, Dubey shared a declassified CIA document from 2011, claiming it reveals a deep nexus between the late Congress leader HKL Bhagat and Soviet intelligence.

“Congress, Corruption, and Slavery. This unclassified secret document was released by the CIA in 2011. According to it, under the leadership of the late Congress leader HKL Bhagat, more than 150 Congress MPs were funded by Soviet Russia,” Dubey alleged.

🕵️‍♂️ Allegations of Soviet Infiltration in Indian Politics

Dubey further claimed that a group of Indian journalists operated as Russian agents, publishing over 16,000 pro-Soviet news articles during that period.
He also cited the presence of 1,100 Russian intelligence officers in India, stating they had deep connections with bureaucrats, businesses, communist parties, and opinion makers—allegedly influencing policy and public perception.

“Is this a country or a puppet of slaves, agents, and middlemen?” Dubey questioned, calling for a fresh investigation into the revelations.

💼 Subhadra Joshi, Indo-German Forum & Foreign Funding Claims

The BJP MP also named Congress leader Subhadra Joshi, alleging she received ₹5 lakh from the German government for election expenses during the Soviet era.

“After losing, she became president of the Indo-German Forum. This shows a clear pattern of foreign manipulation,” Dubey said.

🧾 Background of the CIA Document

While Dubey did not provide a full citation of the declassified CIA document, references to Cold War intelligence operations and KGB activities in India have long been a topic of scholarly debate.
The Mitrokhin Archives, released in the early 2000s, also alleged KGB’s involvement in Indian politics, including support for certain political parties and figures.

⚖️ Congress Yet to Respond

As of now, the Congress party has not issued an official statement responding to the BJP MP’s claims.
This explosive accusation adds another layer of tension to the already volatile political atmosphere, with historical narratives becoming the latest battleground between the BJP and Congress.

Dubey concluded his remarks with a demand for accountability:

“Congress must answer. Shouldn’t there be an investigation into this today?”
