Port Sudan [Sudan] : A series of drone strikes believed to have been launched by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have caused widespread destruction in Port Sudan, including a massive fire at a fuel depot, according to Al Jazeera.
Multiple explosions were reported across the port city, and large plumes of smoke were seen rising from the vicinity of Sudan’s main maritime hub. Among the targets were a fuel depot, Port Sudan International Airport, and a hotel located near key government buildings, including the Presidential Guest House, where Sudanese Armed Forces leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan operates.
The attacks come amid an intensifying conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, further deepening an already dire humanitarian crisis. Port Sudan has become a critical refuge for thousands of displaced civilians and hosts operations for the United Nations, humanitarian agencies, and government ministries aligned with the army.
Earlier strikes on Sunday and Monday targeted a military base and additional fuel depots. Military sources have attributed these incidents to the RSF, although the paramilitary group has not claimed responsibility.
