New Delhi [India]: In preparation for the Republic Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal will take place on January 23, starting at 10:30 am. The parade will begin at Vijay Chowk and proceed to Red Fort, with elaborate traffic and security arrangements to ensure smooth operations along the route.
Parade Route and Schedule
The parade will follow this route:
- Vijay Chowk
- Kartavyapath
- ‘C’-Hexagon R/A Statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
- Tilak Marg
- Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
- Netaji Subhash Marg
- Red Fort
Traffic restrictions will be in place from January 22 to January 23. Key details include:
- Kartavyapath will be closed to traffic between Vijay Chowk and India Gate from 6 pm on January 22 until the parade concludes.
- No cross-traffic will be allowed at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road from 11 pm on January 22.
- ‘C’-Hexagon-India Gate will close at 9:15 am on January 23.
- Traffic on Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, and Subhash Marg will be restricted from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Commuter Advisory
- Metro Rail Services will remain operational at all stations during the rehearsal.
- Delhi City Bus Services will be curtailed or diverted at key locations, including Park Street, Udyan Marg, Pragati Maidan, Mori Gate, and others.
- Inter-state buses:
- Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium will terminate at Bhairon Road, while buses from NH-24 will stop at ISBT Anand Vihar.
- Buses from Ghaziabad will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge.
- Buses from Dhaula Kuan’s side will terminate at Dhaula Kuan.
Border Traffic Diversions
Traffic diversions will be implemented at multiple border points, including:
- Tikri, Jharoda, Dhansa, Daraula, Jhatikra, Nanakhedi/Badusaria, and Surakhpur in Delhi.
- Bahadurgarh, Haryana: Diversions at T-Point Sec-9, Bhadurgarh Bypass, and KMP Expressway.
- Gurugram, Haryana: Diversions at Lohat Village, Dharampur Chowk, and Babupur Chowk.
Aerial Restrictions
To ensure safety, the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including para-gliders, UAVs, drones, and hot air balloons, is prohibited over the National Capital Territory of Delhi until February 15.
Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid the parade route during the restricted hours.
