DRDO Guest House Manager Arrested For Spying For Pakistan’s ISI

Jaisalmer – On Tuesday, Rajasthan’s CID Intelligence apprehended a contract manager from a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Guest House close to the Chandan Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer. Mahendra Prasad, the manager, is suspected of working as a spy for the Pakistani intelligence organization ISI.

Dr. Vishnukant, Inspector General of Police CID (Security) in Rajasthan, said that the arrest was part of a larger attempt to keep an eye on things before the state-level Independence Day celebrations. People found out that Prasad, who lived in Palyun, Uttarakhand, was talking to a Pakistani spy organization on social media. He is said to have been giving out secret information regarding the movements of Indian Army officers and DRDO scientists who go to the firing range to test missiles and weapons.

Investigation and Arrest

Different intelligence services questioned Prasad at the Central Interrogation Center in Jaipur. A technological analysis of his mobile phone purportedly validated that he was disseminating classified information pertaining to the DRDO and Indian Army to his Pakistani operatives.

On August 12, a complaint was filed against Mahendra Prasad, 32, under the Official Secrets Act of 1923. After that, Rajasthan CID Intelligence arrested him for spying. On Wednesday, he will go to court for a remand hearing, where he will be questioned more.

This arrest shows that Indian intelligence agencies are still working hard to keep an eye on and stop anti-national acts and spying, especially around important defense sites.
