‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’ Trailer Unveiled at CinemaCon

Washington [US], April 3: Focus Features has released the emotional first trailer for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at CinemaCon, marking the final chapter in the beloved British drama’s big-screen saga.

Written by series creator Julian Fellowes and directed by Simon Curtis, the trailer hints at a poignant farewell for the Grantham family and their devoted staff. The teaser includes glimpses of the family at the races, Dominic West’s Guy Dexter in London’s West End, and Michelle Dockery’s Lady Mary in a striking red gown.

A touching tribute to the late Maggie Smith’s Dowager Countess is also featured, as the film explores the “end of an era” following the character’s passing—a storyline that resonates even more deeply after Smith’s real-life passing in September 2023.

The original cast, including Hugh Bonneville, Dockery, Laura Carmichael, and Jim Carter, returns for the finale. New additions to the franchise include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is set to hit theaters domestically on September 12.
